US Election could lead to civil war?

Could the US be heading towards another civil war? Will there be  war refugees from the US if there is a war? See the Atlantic article below. What does '..only if the American people acquiesce..' mean? How do the people not 'acquiesce'? Take up arms? Guns and ammunition are flying off the shelves of US gun stores. Many are setting up bunkers. Black people are forming militias. Who will be president if there are legal and constitutional issues leading to doubt about who is legally elected? Who will the military be loyal to if such a scenario arises? Trump as the incumbent will remain in charge of the military, all federal agencies, the nuclear football and The War Room up to 79 days after the election. There are no checks or balances. Even if a president goes insane, a military strike up to and including a nuclear strike can be ordered by the incumbent or his successor - on anywhere. It is alleged that when President Nixon was depressed and drinking heavily, he hinted at a meeting of congressional leaders that he could just go into his room, press the buttons and millions would be dead. A desperate person can take millions of us with him.....

According to the 12th Amendment, the House of Representatives elects the president and the Senate elects the vice president if the election is in doubt. That could mean a democrat as President and a Republican as Vice President! The new Congress that enters in January is the one tasked with carrying out the so-called “contingent election.” The president has only been selected this way once, in 1825. The winner was John Quincy Adams. If the election result is still in doubt on Inauguration Day, democrat Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House acts as President until the House chooses a President or the results of the election are determined in the Supreme Court. What a mess.

We have seen violent confrontations over the wearing of masks. Some people died in those confrontations. Americans are fighters for what they believe. If half the country cannot agree on the election's outcome, then what? Will the American people 'acquiesce' and follow this constitutional procedure? Will Trump supporters agree to a democrat controlled house choosing a democrat as President? It has never been done since 1815. The world is holding its breath....

Since Biden is so old, so fragile, he is widely expected to retire before the end of his term if he is elected president. Compared to Trump, Biden seems ancient. Voting for Biden probably means you are voting for Kamala Harris for president - eventually! Kamala Harris is a black Hilary Clinton. Kamala Harris is a classic retail politician who will say or do anything for a positive headline and compromise on everything to get ahead. She’s just like Hillary Clinton. During the campaign for the nomination, Kamala Harris called Biden a racist and suggested she believed a woman who accused Biden of sexual assault. Now, she is his running mate? Kamala Harris is a phony. That being said, I predict that if he does not get the virus and/or die, Joseph Robinette Biden Jr will be the next President of the United States - until Kamala Harris takes over. God help the United States.

The democrat's strategy is to vote against Trump. 'Even a trained monkey is better than Trump' is the saying....Asa and I have a $20 bet. Asa is betting that Trump will win. I am betting that Trump will lose. As Canadians, this is the only 'skin' we have in this game. We both agree that the democrat's choice of Biden/Harris is a disaster. The bookies odds say Biden will win (6/5 - 43 per cent implied chance)  . They were wrong the last time.....This will be a topic on an upcoming episode on EXILED. Stay tuned!

Immigrants, Migrant Workers and Refugees - Making the World a Better Place for All

Dear Reader,

Sometimes, a story comes along that just can’t wait. That’s why we’ve decided to move up the online publication date for The Atlantic’s next cover story, by our staff writer Barton Gellman.

There is a pervasive and justifiable fear that Donald Trump will reject the election results if he loses to Joe Biden. But as Gellman documents in his authoritative and chilling story, the situation is far more dire than anyone, Biden included, might imagine. Gellman is a three-time recipient of the Pulitzer Prize, and one of the world’s finest investigative reporters. Given what he has learned, I wanted our readers to have access to his story, which will appear on the cover of our November issue, as soon as possible.

“The worst case,” Gellman writes, “is not that Trump rejects the election outcome. The worst case is that he uses his power to prevent a decisive outcome against him.” Merely by refusing to concede, Trump could keep the electoral result in doubt through the 79-day period between Election Day and the day the next president is to be inaugurated. Gellman's reporting shows that Republicans are already discussing plans to bypass the popular vote and directly appoint electors to the Electoral College. This could lead the country to a precipice: Two men could show up to be sworn in on Inauguration Day. “One of them,” Gellman writes, “would arrive with all the tools and power of the presidency already in hand.”

Gellman’s report is a warning about the fragility of our entire system of governance. “An election cannot be stolen unless the American people, at some level, acquiesce,” he writes.

As readers of The Atlantic know, our magazine has been focused on threats to American democracy and to the American idea itself. This story is among the most urgent we have ever published, and I hope you will understand why I felt the need to share it with you now. I urge you to read Gellman’s story, and to share it with everyone in your life who is not only interested in the outcome of this election, but concerned about the future of our democracy.

  1. Both the Westminster model and the Electoral College American system are flawed for a minority can elect who the people actually never voted in as a majority choice. An elaborate con game.
